Moving to a new
home, flat or studio can be really exciting but also a very stressful situation.
No matter how or
where you are moving, preparation and careful planning will make the process
easier.
Here few tips to
make it easy and right:
* Organization is
the key: Make a list of things that will be move, room by room.
If you are planning to hire a moving company, the movers will work with you to
put together an inventory.
* Sell or donate things that won’t use: Organize
a moving sale, donate items to a charity organization or to anyone can possibly
need it. Throwing things away is sometimes necessary.
* Label all boxes: Ask for
boxes in nearby stores, friends, neighbors, etc. Make sure you have plenty of
tape, a bubble wrap to ensure your stuff arrives intact. Have all your boxes
packed and labeled so all they have to do is pick up a box and carry it to the
moving van. If you have a moving company already arranged they will come prepare
with all the supplies.
Make clear
descriptions in the boxes specially the fragile ones. Label with a destination
such as “master bedroom” or “bathroom.” With organization you will avoid the frustration
on moving day.
* Prepare a
FIRST BOX TO OPEN box: This is the most important box of
all. When you move to your new place, you will need clothes for you and your
family or partner. A few towels,
medicine if need it, a toothbrush, soap, shampoo and toilet paper. If you need
something besides the previous things add it to this box.
